Why Aussiedoodles
A magical antidote to a rough day
There is a good reason why this breed is used as therapy and emotional support dogs. Their coats are extremely soft to touch, low shed, hypoallergenic, and seem to have a built in calming effect.
Aussiedoodles are happy little creatures with an amusing boneless bounce. They are playful (not necessarily fetch, but catch). They crave attention and often bring their preferred humans gifts of various kinds. Surprisingly, they also love to swim.
Aussiedoodles are gentle and friendly to all people and animals. They can bond quickly to whomever seems to need them most, sensing a bad day as if able to read minds.
Both the Poodle and the Australian Shepherd are brilliant working dogs. Their crossed offspring are even smarter. They can understand both simple and compound commands early and easily. To keep this active mind busy, your Aussiedoodle should be taught an array of tricks as well as simple household tasks to perform.
size
The Aussiedoodle breed is a medium-sized dog. Our pups when fully grown range from 30-50 pounds, but is dependent on care and diet. They will stand around 14 to 23 inches high.
appearance/coat
Aussiedoodles' coats can be a wide array of colors and combinations, which include all shades of black, gray and white, tan, red tri-color, black tri-color, Red Merle and Blue Merle. Their eye colors are just as varied - one blue and the other brown, both blue, or both brown. The brown may be more amber, and one eye could be amber, while the other is more brown. To make it more interesting, the eyes may start out blue and change to brown over time.
The level of grooming that an Aussiedoodle requires will vary depending on how curly its coat is. Due to the Aussiedooble being a mixed breed, their coat may take on more characteristics of either the Poodle (soft, curly coat) or Australian Shepherd (straight, wavy, waterproof coat).
Dogs that have a wavier coat often only require combing once or twice a week, whereas dogs with a curlier coat need to be groomed more often. So, you’ll have to wait and see how your Aussiedoodle’s coat comes in before you’ll be able to know how much grooming is required.
temperament
Aussiedoodles specialize in love - they are affectionate and devoted towards their owners. In this regard, Aussiedoodles require constant human interaction and affection to maintain a balanced, healthy pup. They are great with children and make excellent family pets. Aussiedoodle pups will need boundaries and be supervised as they can be quite rambunctious and can get a little out of control as youngsters.
While they are lovers, Aussiedoodles are also extremely intelligent and playful. Additionally, they can sometimes retain their herding instincts, which will need to be kept in check and corrected from a very early age. It is important to start training and socialization early to help. Exercise and mental stimulation will also help!
